Danos Associates publish “UK In-House Senior Legal 2020/2021 Moves Report”. Despite the slowdown of Legal hiring in the second half of 2020, there was still a hive of activity in the hiring and promotion of senior in-house legal professionals within the financial services sector. Outlined in this report is a selection of the moves from 2020 to early January 2021.

Alexandra Marsh has been appointed Chief Legal and Compliance Officer (SMF 16 and 17) at ETX Capital, from her role at Belmond as Compliance Counsel, and previously Head of Compliance for the UK Tote Group.

James Witt has been appointed Assistant General Counsel, Deputy Chief Legal Officer EMEA for PineBridge Investments, from his role as Acting Co-Head of Legal for Alcentra.

Moynul Ali has been promoted from his role as Deputy General Counsel and Compliance Officer to Head of Fundraising Legal at Hg Capital.

August

Stephen Shapiro has succeeded Bob Hoyt at Barclays Bank as General Group Counsel. He will hold this top legal role at the bank in addition to his current role as Group                   Company Secretary.

Ehsan Haque has been appointed Global Head of Legal and Compliance at Hamilton Investment Management, from his previous role as General Counsel of AlphaSwap.

Christopher Twemlow has been appointed General Counsel and Company Secretary for Allianz Insurance, from his role as Chief Legal Officer for UK and Ireland at Euroclear.

Sam Navazesh has been appointed General Counsel for Centerview Partners, from his role as Executive Director, Assistant General Counsel at JP Morgan.

Sarah Blomfield has been appointed the EMEA General Counsel for Evercore Partners, from her role as Director at Rothschild. 

Martina Swart has been appointed Group Chief Legal and Risk Officer for Arrow Global Group, from her role as Group Head of Governance at Maitland.

Crystal Lalime has been appointed General Counsel for the Investment Banking division at Credit Suisse. Crystal most recently acted as the General Counsel of Global Markets and its U.S. intermediate holding company and will take over the role permanently following the departure of incumbent Natalia Nicolaidis.
